Order to my days

Aimless.

Days without structure.

Nothing in particular

to do.

Long hours stretch out before me.

Flipping channels.

Flipping pages.

Nothing holding my attention.

Reinvention?

Put a schedule in place.

Start my day with God

– read, pray, study.

Then exercise.

And errands

or phone calls

or tasks

or swim.

There. A plan.

Sense of purpose.

Hi Peggy, I enjoyed this minimalist stream of words and thoughts. I think that’s what we can handle sometimes in the midst of depression, at least it seems that way to me. I’ve endured on and off depression for years and think it’s just part of my personality in some ways, if that makes sense? I tend to be very introspective/pensive, feel very deeply while not always articulating it.

I’ve learned that sometimes we need to talk to ourselves (as you seem to be doing in your stream here in this post) rather than listening because we need to tell ourselves truth that will overcome the feelings. Not that our feelings are “bad” but they can be wrong. So sometimes saying to ourselves, “hey, this is not true. Look at what God says. Now, you can either listen to yourself or to Him, you can either choose to stay here in this blah-ness or you can take even a small spoonful of dirt and dig out a little bit.” πŸ˜› Just passing on thoughts. πŸ™‚

I have sections in my journal where I’ve written out Scripture and highlighted “TRUTH” next to His Word. Still the best way for me to combat the lies depression tells me.
